What happens in episode 1 of House Rules?
In House Rules, her stepson walks in with his bags and gets a welcome that is more hug than greeting. Dad is on a work trip, so for a week it is only the two of them, and Veronica has written house rules. The first is simple: do whatever she says. She sends him to put his things away while she warms the hot tub out back.
Most of the tension comes from the girlfriend on speakerphone, cheerfully announcing a visit for tomorrow while the stepmother listens in a pink sports bra. Rule two lands right after the call: no more talking to the girlfriend today. The episode cuts between a yoga mat in the living room, the steaming hot tub and a bathroom doorway, then ends on her order to be in the shower in ten minutes.
For episode 2 the poster swaps the sports bra for black lace under an open pink robe in the kitchen, which suggests the rules list keeps growing once the girlfriend arrives.
