What happens in episode 1 of Date With My Stepmom?
Date with My Stepmom is the one series drawn in a glossy illustrated style rather than photoreal rendering. Nina has dressed for a dinner date in red satin with a key pendant at her neck, and her husband has just cancelled for work. His son Evan walks in to find her fuming and the table already set for two.
He tries not to stare and fails; his inner monologue about the dress is not as inner as he thinks, and she catches every word. He calls it a misunderstanding, she calls him a terrible liar. Dinner is off and she got dressed up for nothing, she says, so she asks whether he got a good look, and suggests he take one before she takes the dress off.
The episode 2 poster keeps the illustrated look: Nina in lace lingerie in the living room, eyes on the viewer. The cancelled date has a replacement.
